Brascarbon Methane

Overview

The BRASCARBON Methane Recovery Project aims to utilize effluent from seven pig farms in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, to capture methane and generate biogas. This initiative converts waste into a valuable resource by constructing covered anaerobic digesters, which break down organic material to produce biogas and fertilizer. By implementing anaerobic digestion, the project reduces greenhouse gas emissions, generates renewable energy, and improves wastewater management practices, thus mitigating environmental impacts.

Environmental impact

The project significantly reduces methane emissions from pig farms, a potent greenhouse gas, by capturing it for energy production. By converting waste into biogas, the project contributes to mitigating climate change and promotes sustainable energy production. Additionally, the implementation of anaerobic digestion improves wastewater management and reduces environmental pollution, benefiting local ecosystems.
